Week 4: PrintMaking

Print Making

This lesson we learnt how to do printmaking. First off, we were given instructions to the safety of using thinner and iron to transfer our images to our wood & cloths. Then wetransfer our images to the desired area with our prefered choice.

THere is the ironing technique, thinner technique and also the mod podge technique. These items are necessary for us to use for our image transfer process.

Here are some scenes of how my process of image transfer work out.

Brief

We were tasked to create a design a wooden signage using image transfer medthod. Select one of the businesses below and do a small scale mockup with wood.

You can either use an existing brand or come up with one yourself. You are free to propose any style or art direction for the design. the client is also open to an illustrative signage.

Choices:
• Florist
• Organic Food Grocer
• Cafe/Pub (including cat cafe/other novelty cafes)
• Restaurant / eatery

Deliverable:
1 small scale mockup (about A4 size)

SO this was our brief and I had chose to focus on a signage for a cafe. My aim is ti make the signage look very fun and vintage and inspirational. Thus I search on quotes and different mediums to support my idea.

This is my signage for the cafe. I make it look very vintage as it can bring out the asthetic look of the cafe. Homely and warmth. "MAY YOU LIVE EVERYDAY OF YOUR LIFE" is my favourite quote to use, which is suitable for the cafe.

REFELCTION

Overall, I felt that the leson was very interesting as I get to indulge myself in new and weird meduim to do my image transfer. I felt very unfamiliar but as time goes by, I was growing into liking it, except for the smell of course. This method I may consider into doing for the new upcoming project to come. I may not have much chances this time, but with the next one, I will be able to plan and have enough sources to do before everyone takes it away. haha.
